Took me about 3 hours last time I think. Was pretty much plain sailing until I reached the outskirts of Brighton where there was a lot of traffic and it was a snails pace from there. I can't remember the time the run starts but I would hazard a guess at half 10 for the first ones out of CP at the earliest.
Really excited for this now, I've been looking forward to it ever since leaving Brighton last year.
A little tip for any first timers; don't camp near the lineup of cars. You might be closer to go and grab stuff from your car but you'll be woken at 2:30am by people moving their cars into line. Everything sounds closer in a tent, so those cars passing your tent 10 metres away actually sound like they're about to run you over in your sleeping bag. Also, if you follow the signposts when you reach Brighton, it'll take you at least another hour to reach Madeira Drive.

Unfortunately I can't go and do the full run because of an important exam on that Sunday at noon (Cambridge picks great days!), but I'm definitely coming to take a look.
I was also hoping to buy some spares before I drive back to my country (Switzerland) with the Mini I bought here.
Will there be still lots of parts available in the early afternoon or should I already be looking in the late morning?
Cheers.

According to the details emailed out with my ticket, the Show and Shine people start leaving Crystal Palace at 8am and then everyone else at 8:30am

What time would you recommend getting to CP if you aren't camping? I was thinking 6am so I can get a spot roughly in the middle of the line?

Gates open at 5am in the morning. Personally I'd get there at this time, last year lots of people were moving their cars into line before registration opens.
Also, for anybody who wants the run booklet, heres a PDF of it.

It should be shared publicly. Let me know if the link doesn't work.
