1 week, 3 break downs...
My fan belt is hanging on by a thread, I need to buy one and replace it by 2.30pm today.
It's an MG metro engine so I'm pretty sure I need the 838mm belt, can anyone confirm?

I work in the Warwick and Leamington Spa area so there isn't any specialist mini spares suppliers local.
What are the chances of getting the belt from a local motorfactors?

Forgive my stupidity, but will any general fan belt that is the right size do the job... it doesn't have to be a 'mini fan belt'?
I can just ring a motor factors and ask for an 838 belt, job done?

I think it should be a certain grip type too? Some are ribbed (Vee Belt?) that have the grip going along the belt and some have grip that is at 9o degrees to the belt. I guess the pulley's are the same however on the crank, pump and alternator.

I found one and ordered it. It's due for delivery at 1pm but it's likely to be delayed due to the bloooody snoooow!

Thanks for advice.

Halfords sell fan belts... I know lots of people don't like using them, but they will have the right part in stock.

Damn I should have read this earlier! If you are stuck let me know ;). Let's just say that the fanbelts from Halfords are damn cheap for me. But I found that I had to order the belt from most motorfactors (GSF, Leamoco or CAS all said they would have it in by the next day).

If you are mega stuck I have a new 813 you can have.
