Hey Everyone,

Just trying to figure out of there is any other filters out there instead of Fram PH966B or Unipart GFE 443? I preffer to use K&N or Bosh as I have used these for years and have never had problems. Thanks

Eric

Ive not had any problems with the unipart filters on my mini. I think they used to make the OEM oil filters

Never had a problem with either Fram or Unipart. Then again, as long as it fits, not too fussed on brand. It's getting changed in 6months.

Ive had my bad experience with fram. Specially at the seam I have found that the filter was only pinched shut with a piece of metal. There are gaps where particles can go thru. As for Unipart, not personally.

Well, since here in the States we need to improvise a bit with part substitutions I found this list of filters that fit the Mini from a Texas Mini club website. Some of the filters are of the taller type that are little harder to fit.

I've heard the purolator being particularly good.
There should be also a very good filter from knecht but then who knows the code..

A few racers I know refuse to use Fram due to the casings letting go with obvious consequences. I have never had an issue with this myself.

Mann tend to make half decent filters and are generally available for half decent money from GSF, coming with the necessary 1 way valve (some argue that this is not required in the Mini due to the oil filter's orientation (I.E it is not prone to draining itself) in addition to a bypass valve should the filter ever get blocked (I.E it will shove unfiltered oil around the engine should the filter ever block up for whatever reason (and thus without the valve give very little oil pressure)). I believe Volvo amongst others (Peugeot did for a small amount of time) use Mann filters as OE filters.
