Hi guys abit of a random questions regarding tracks (as in tank type tracks)

i like to design things before i buy/modify etc, and im planning on a landrover defender with various mods for off roading, but was wondering what the legal mot vosa type take on it would be. i no tanks can go on the road etc, and ive found an american company who make them.

so was wondering

Me & my dad have these planned up already,Only thing stoping us is 1)land rovers need work doing i.e sills, mot work & 2)The problem is bonding the rubber to the track as the tracks have to be rubber for road use bolts just wont cut the mustard above 15-20mph.

Yeah there the ones but at 100 grand me & my dad said "PASS" but got into contact with them & they said that there would be a cheaper version which turned out to be i think around 30 grand if i remember rightly,Which was still way to much so we've decided to make are own.
Only the bbc can afford these ect.. for expeditions to say:the north pole (as they increase the vehicle foot print & essentially make to car lighty.

Ohh & to answer your question on legality (in the uk) yes they are 100% road legal weather there homemade or not.
Theres actually a guy in london which famously ran/runs his tank on rubber track through london as a daily commuter.
Think it was a yellow tank,Imagine his congestion charge fees

hmmm didnt know that, although the pricey fuel bills make up for the lack of charges in other areas.

Yeah theres a russian company which do them for roughly 3-8 grand but still i can make my own for less than that & tailor the design to my car & my needs.

mattracks do replacment rubber tracks for 1500-2000 pounds also O_O
