Red dot for harder sporty driving

The moultons are for soft comfy driving

For the shocks, depends how low you are running the car. If its going to be low then go for lowered ones. For a standard ish ride height go for std height ones. Both are no different in performance, just operate in different positions

Personally I'd wait for the red dot minispares ones. But if you can't wait both minisport and minispares look to be selling exactly the same standard cones even down to the part number. Although the minisport cones look better presented in the photo and are a bit cheaper.

Mini Sport sell cones made by Avon as genuine, which they are not. Mini Spares sell Dunlop cones as genuine, which they are. Avon NEVER made cones for Rover/BL/BMC/Unipart. They are making cones according to Dr Moulton's spec, but they are not the same as the Dunlop ones and I have heard very mixed things about them.

Also "lowered" & "standard" are subjective terms. Some standard dampers will compress more than another manufacturer's lowered ones. Lowering doesn't alter the full suspension travel from rebound to bump stop, on the front; you'll want rear dampers that don't allow the suspension to be unloaded (& able to fall out) at full rebound.

http://www.calverst....itment_data.htm that's a little bit dated, so it'd be an idea to confirm with themanufactures' sites.

:ohno: I´ve just fitted the Avons on my Mini (bought from MiniSport). Did I do something stupid??? Thought they were genuine :shy:

Impossible to say, from what I've heard they seem to be very inconsistent. Some sets of Avon springs work fine and others have a very short and troubled life. Much like the Dunlop ones were when they were being made to the late BMW spec, before Mini Spares corrected the manufacturing process.

http://weightwash.co.uk/Valleyrubber/mini%20suspension%20cone.htm

It's Valley Rubber if you look on this website you can see the cones and a bit of a write up about them doesn't sound like they are any more "genuine" than the Avon rubber ones!

I purchased 2 from minispares recently and the have Valley Rubber where the old ones had Dunlop and in place of the Moulton logo just the outline oval. Patent number still on it though.
Can't imagine that Dunlop would still make them given the quantities bought by Minifans

As far as I'm aware Valley are making them because that's who Unipart / X-Part went to with the tooling after Dunlop lost interest and that's where Mini Spares went to redevelop them as the original tools from Dunlop were worn out. Interestingly though I did think they still had Dunlop on them, but apparently not any longer. Simon will know much more obviously, he told me about it all once but it was a while ago now.

Has anyone bought a new fully built BMH subframe lately? Whoever BMH grant the licence to is the genuine source really.
