seriously someone save me. biggest head ache of my life going on here!

i have a standard 1979 austin mini with standard drums standard arches, when going 4/5 up or a heavy load my tyres/wheel scrape and make a nice squeak :P

basically i want to get new wheels that are 6x10 black mambas, obviously this will make the rubbing even worse and probs wont even be able to turn the wheel!! its rubbing on the main frame of the body not the wheel arches, to get these what will i have to do to stop all rubbing etc, i want to know size of spaces needed, the size of the wheel arches (group 2 perhaps?) and then a decent tyre that wont look overly stupid! i want to go wide but not some fatboy mini just generally give it some shape, cheers guys! :)

I'm led to believe that fitting 6" wide wheels, you'l have to do some body modifications (cut the lip and some off) I had to do this for my 12x6" wheels. I don't think the diameter makes a difference... But someone please correct me if i am wrong :-)

Drums all round? You'll find that not much if any cutting will be needed....

Also, group 2 race arches for example may give an overarched look

cheers guys! im being led more towards getting the 12x6 ones now instead as i dont like the balloon tyre look ;) haha, i really dont want to be cutting anything as i have no idea what im doing at all, is there anyway to get 12x6 and slim fit tires? trying to keep the same size wheel and tyre overall so no cutting will be needed at a push maybe just some spacers?
