Just driving home from work and went to see a mate on a carpark to show him the mini...

It was covered in snow and forgot that there are these diamond things made of brick about 4 inch high, they usually have trees in but this one didnt and I completely forgot it was there...

I drove into it and my left wheel has now been jerked out more to the left or the right wheel has been notched out to the right but I am pretty sure its the left wheel...

Making steering to the left dead easy but to the right really tough..

I'm quite worried because I am skint after getting it through the MOT and owe money to people so dont want to fork out loads to fix it

Track rod end?
Tie rod bent?
Steering rack?
Subframe rear mounts moved in/back?

I know I cant diagnose it off the forum but looking for immediate thoughts and costs too please - I found this thread helpful http://www.theminifo...ng-to-the-left/

Really pissed off at myself for doing it..

Cheers all

duuuuuuuuude not cool, glad your ok though :D

track rod ends and tie rod's are the least of your worries, as long as its not something like a steering rack it will be relatively cheap to fix :) but i would of thought tie rods, track rods, cv joints etc and the like that are actually connects to the wheel mechanism :P

Its probably just a bent tie rod. Cross fingers and inspect it.
If the subframe have moved, it would have bent the floor/heelboard panel.

Was only doing 5 - 10mph :ohno: >_<

I hope it aint steering rack though...

I can fix the simple stuff on the drive though so thats cool

No creaks or snaps so guessing subframe is OK..

EDIT: is it OK to drive like it is for a short time?

Stick it on stands and have a look.

You can't tell what damage has been done, for your sake I hope its only a Tie-Rod or Track Rod end.

You can DIY the tracking so its near enough, and then get it set up properly. String, A Tape Measure and some chalk.
