hi guys i have a problem with my mini one of the front wheel isnt turning as much as the other side i found this out in the snow so i jacked it up with the 2 wheels off the ground and the drive shaft isnt turning no wear near the same as the other side is this a weared inner cv joint or could it be more serious like gearbox etc
thanks

It isn't a CV joint, the shaft would either turn or not at all. It is more likely that one brake has more friction than the other, so with it jacked up, the action of the differential correctly causes the looser wheel to rotate much faster than the tighter one, which may not move at all in some cases. Obviously, seriously sticky brakes need to be checked.
If the car drives OK but a wheel spins in the snow, that is not a sign of a problem in the transmission, or anywhere else. If either CV or the diff or driveshaft is broken, that side will spin furiously while the opposite side has no torque so the car will not go. The differential makes the torque on each driveshaft equal, and if one is jacked up or spinning on snow, near zero torque, there can't be any torque on the other either.
