Hi Guys,
Looking at some alloys and set of four but one has a 165/60 tyre on it while others have 145/70.

The alloys on teh back have the same info but can you fit the larger tyre. Never messed around with tyres so wouldnt know.

You can't mix tyre sizes on the same axle. So you would need to change the 165 to make a full set of 145's, that don't legally have to be of all the same make.

From what I remember of college ill try and explain tyre sizes

a typical size in this case could be 165\60\12

The 165 bit is the width measurement in mm

The 60 bit is a percentage of the above measurement and denotes the sidewall height

And the 12 bit refers to the rim diameter the tyre will fit onto

If you start mixing sizes you will have different rolling radius's (the circumference of the tyre) and you'll find the car will want to turn its self in a circle, bit like trying to walk in a straight line with one leg longer than the other it'll ruin your diff and scrub out your back tyres pretty quick

Do you have any markings on your alloys to show the size of the them? They're usually marked on the inside so you might have to take the wheel off and clean all the crap off but I suspect that because you already have 3 of them the 145 is the right size

If you buy those alloys you have 3 choices:

Fit one new 145/70 x 12 onto the rim with the 165/60 section tyre, or,
Fit 3 new 165/60 x 12 tyres onto the rims with the 145/70 section ones on, or,
Fit one new 165/60 onto one of the rims with 145's on and fit the pair of 145/70's onto the front and the pair of 165/60 x 12 onto the back.

You must have the same size tyres on each side on each axle and the fronts must not be wider than the rears.

A 145 width will fit from 4" to 5.5" rim width.
A 165 will fit from 4.5" to 6" rim width.

However, the early radial fitted Minis which were the 1964 onwards Cooper 998 and Cooper 'S' both had 145/80 x 10 on 3.5" rims.

Most alloys on Minis are at least 4.5" rim width and I, personally, have never seen a 4" alloy Mini rim, but of course there may be some out there.
Just measure the width across rim to be sure

And a set of 7.5" discs, callipers & driveshafts so that the 10" wheels will fit?

Will the speedo not be inaccurate or is the difference negligible?

If you have the wrong size on the front?

It's negligible, they're pretty inaccurate anyway!
