 DSC_0088.jpg   55.38K   7 downloadsHi, i,m 46 and just bought my first mini project, i had a 1972 mini 1000 when i was 18 so had an affinity with them. my wife thinks its some kind of mid-life menopause. However when i was a teenager my dad used to deal in secondhand mini,s and austin 1100/1300,s so i cut my teeth on them. I picked up a mini 30 without any tax and mot from evilbay, having bought it blind and driven it home the 20 miles was pleasantly surprised to find the only serious rust was where the floor pan meets toe board. amazingly the sills and subframes were solid. This will be a complete nut and bolt rebuild. Its a 1000 with autobox, i,m gonna buck the trend and try my utmost to keep it auto, though getting auto box manual,s and components are gold dust. No timespan involved but big plans. Always open to tips and advice, all the best guy,s and gals Terry.

I am in 'proper' Essex in Colchester. Some of the other 'Essex' people on here are inside the M25 residing in London Boroughs!

Mine is very similar to yours but in kit form. I am just a whipper snapper compared to you being only 40 but on TMF we are considered old (and wise).

Hello from another 'proper' Essex owner! It's nice to hear someone planning on keeping an auto alive - I drove an auto Mayfair recently and really quite liked it.
