Hi all well heres my prob:
Having difficulty with the way the car is running at low revs. It doesn't like hill starts and stalls when trying to pull away. I think it may be carb related but not sure. Does anyone have any ideas?

how long's it been doing it? What did you change (if anything) before it started playing up?

Futhermore, which engine/box/year of car!?

Well its 87/mayfair/998 it runs ok on the flat liek i say, but when we came to test on the hill start nope not a chance, stalled everytime its like it doesnt have the b******s! and thats no matter how many revs. Maybe carb prob? well were gona change the carb 2moz see if that makes any diff. Keep the suggestions comming please

yeah, from still.... hold it at 2000 rpm, put it into second gear, then lift the clutch, if it stalls the clutch should be ok..

will the car rev up quickly?

Hmmm it sorta laggs, i.e you put your foot down and theres a slight delay before the revs kick in. Were really stumped to be honest :s as my dads not a mechanic where abit stuck. Weve only gotta put wingmirrors back on and its ready for MOT, but cant drive it if it wont start on a hill!

have you checked the plugs? i had this type of trouble with mine. if there not fouled up id say its an ignition problem. have the timing checked?

i know it sounds daft but your not trying to pull away in 3rd are you?

nah i wasnt trying to pull away in 3rd im not that stupid. Weeve sorted the prob and the car sounds great! sounds really.... racey almost, as some1 has said it was the plugs, turns out one of them wasnt screwed in properly. Thanks alot for all the advice
