Right, I bought a 1275 engine, with no head, the other day (only for N/A use at the moment), and upon inspection it appears to have a set of standard metro turbo pistons fitted, at least from what I can find from the limited info on the internet (could only find a link to a question on turbo minis forum). If anyone knows for sure what pistons these are and/or where they originally came from, then could they please let me know.

Three of them have the number 20831 L2, and one of them is 20831 L14, all with a B stamped in the dish and 'std' on the edge (I assume for standard size, i.e. not overbore).

Any info much appreciated.

Cheers

Has the engine got an engine number? All the metro turbo pistons I have are 20831 L* with an A or B stamped into the crown.

Measure the dish volume, if it's 12cc then they're the stock Turbo pistons.

Cheers guys, they certainly sound like they're turbo pistons then. I'm away from the engine at the moment and won't be able to do anything with it for a couple of months now, so I'll have to measure the dish volume when I get back to it to make sure.

The engine number in guessworks brings it out to be from an 88 Metro, but just in case it once was a turbo engine, are there any other things noticeably different from the pistons down? Should they have a stronger crank/gearbox or anything?

Also, would these turbo pistons be worth much? I'm not planning on selling them, but if they were super rare or something it'd be nice to know!

Cheers

If guessworks thing says 88 metro (not turbo) then there defantly the lookalikes,

Only difference is the turbos have a slightly thicker skirt and 1 less ring.

Not sure how good they are as I dont belive anyone has tested them

It may also have a 6851 cranks rather than a 6232 (I believe this was on earlier metro turbo's only, but someone may have transplanted the crank and pistons together).

They aren't worth a great deal really.
