I'm sure a lot of you have seen this already but Debs posted it to FB and I feel it's important to share.

I will let the video do the talking.

I feel that this sort of advert should be shown more often. There's no better way to show people my age and new drivers (17+) what can happen.
It's not a nice thing too see, and I would never wish it on another person, but it does happen, and often due to the use of mobiles.

The ThinkBike adverts were always very good too, same sort of thing.

I think it IS the younger members that need to watch. In my opinion anybody that texts while driving deserves to have an accident...

..It's the innocent people they hit that I feel sorry for :(

This is something that has to be stopped, its a very strong way to stop it buts its something that must be stopped.

I knew of two people seriously and fatally injured during a car crash due to the driver texting.

Me too. I dont think theres such a thing as 'too bad for TV' if it rings the truth through to a lot of idiots we have on the road. I think it should be compulsory after passing your theory to sit down in a cinema for an hour and sit through films like that. Maybe then people would think twice about driving like idiots.

I was about to edit my post saying exactly that, it should be shown to all drivers. At the end of the day, a car is a machine more that capable of killing, and users need to be 100% in control and full attention.

We need law enforcement like this...

People would definitely think twice about committing road offenses then.

I think the first thing people have to remember is you driving around in essentially a death machine. As Jack said. Driving is something that should be enjoyed but requires attention and focus, something that, Sat Navs, Mobiles etc distract from.

I thought they'd banned that all-ready? ;D

Unfortunately there will be distractions that are un-avoidable.... A fit girl, etc. etc.

But increasing the number of them with things like Mobiles isn't helpful, its why mine will go on silent and in the door pocket so I don't even hear/feel it vibrate. If you hear it you instantly want to check it.

I think they should hurry up and invent auto pilot for when you want to be distracted by other things, like said fit girls and driving up along side an ice cream van and being able to by ice cream mid drive, because obviously the ice cream van driver can put on auto pilot just like you and go into the back to serve you a 99.

Drivers just need to be responisble, distractions will always be there. In car technology will always distract attention from the road, be it radio, sat nav, mobile, changing the heater controls etc. Drivers need to be shown what can happen and take responsibilty, maybe not for themsleves, but the other people that they may put at risk. I think adverts like this are very good.

edit; Knowing people involved in these kind of crashes means I have strong views, apologies :whistling:

Seriously hits home as to why using a phone while drivings such a daft idea, shame it doesn't sink in with some people

unfortunatly, whilst it is a good educational video, i don't think it will bother chavvy young kids, or not for long at least. I say chavvy kids as not all of them are rounded door handles. prime example is my 2 brother inlaws youngest being mid twenties, never crashed, claimed, got points, doesn't speed etc etc, very sensible and down to earth. other brother inlaw on the other hand is a complete rounded door handle. prangs, curbs or crashes his car every week (no exaggeration) he text's, calls and even once admitted checking facebook (which was the reason for him driving straight into the back of a bus). whilst these prangs and crashes shake him up a bit within a week he's back to his old self again. thats the problem with the video. it will scare/shake them for a while but doubt it will make a difference/impact on most of them.

it continually amazes me how many people still use phones while driving, considering both the dangers and penalties if caught.
Even today, I was behind someone on a country road who was doing 35mph while at the same time very clearly talking on a mobile, then as soon as he finished the call he sped up, well over the speed limit O_O some people don't deserve to drive...
