Okay so I am installing my HU and when I checked the switched live used by the old owner it only reads 0.07.

All fuses are good, got any ideas?

The cable runs to the loom in the steering cowling

Okay, after closer inspection I have made myself look like an idiot, not sure what the "switched live" is for but this is the Switched live anti christ. this one shows 12V with ignition off and shows 0.07 when it is turned on.

I guess I will just run a new cable.

Update again, If i have ignition off the Brown wire shows 12v and green and red wire shows 11
If I put stage 1 ignition on brown shows 12v and red and green shows 0v
and on stage 2 ignition browm shows 12v and green and red shows 0.05v

My brain hurts.

Just run fused wires from the fuse box - one is always live and the other is live on position one of the ignition. Its much safer to piggy back the left side of the fuse box and fuse the new wire.

Or i'll make the loom for you - to save you the hassle!

Red/green is dash illum, side 'n tail.

Green/white is accessory, if your heater fan works it is ok. Voltage (aka potential difference) only exists across something with resistance, if you only see 0.7v it's probably because both probes are at nearly 12v. One should be on the supply and the other with an unhindered return to the battery's -ve.
