Evening all,

I haven't driven the car since Monday and this morning the battery was dead as a dodo. Not even a click of the starter!
It's a brand new battery and I fitted a new earth strap at the same time.

I'm just wondering what you would suggest investigating. I guess it must be a dodgy earth somewhere or maybe the alternator? I can't believe a new battery could die in 5 days when it's not even cold!

This was the old battery. What causes that greenish gunk to build up?? Could it be a clue as to what the problem is?

Thanks in advance

Oh yeah, and my horn stopped working the other day. Just wondering where the fuse is and what else to try.

Cheers

I already replaced it. I just thought that might be a clue to why the new one died...

Put a voltmeter on the battery with the engine running you should see 14v approx could be a fault with the alternator -also check the wiring to it.

Check the purple wire going to the horn as a first step it could be corroded

Thanks! I'll obtain a volt meter then.

My car has had a giberglass front put on so has had everytging at the front re-wired. So none of the wiring is original in that area.
Probably the cause of the problem!

Hopefully I'll get to the bottom of it anyway.

Cheers
