I've decided to replace my front grille on my Mini but before doing so had a couple of questions that I'm sure someone here will be able to help with.
At the moment I have an external bonnet release so would it be worthwhile if replacing the grille to get an internal release fitted at the same time or am I being a little paranoid that someone is going to help themselves to my engine parts any day soon.
Also was toying with the idea of adding a couple of spotlights at the same time. Now I see that I can get a replacement grille with holes for spotlights or could alternatively attach these to a bar is there any pros or cons with each method or is it purely looks.
One final question before I outstay my welcome. Straight or wavy grilles what's the opinion?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm very new to the Mini scene and I've only owned mine for a couple of weeks.
This is for a 1988 MIni City 1000

not a fan of spot lights in front of the grill it makes taking the grill off a pain!, so id get the one with the holes in

as for internal release its up to you but if someone wants to help themselved to your engine its really not that difficult either way!

i prefer straight grills by the way!

I'd change to internal release for two reasons. Firstly, its slightly more secure, not much but definitely more secure, also internal release grilles look cleaner.

I'm unsure about spots, Most people go for 2 or 4 but i think 3 looks best or None. Depends.

If you do go for 4 I'd wire them up so you have the two outers are engaged when you turn on High Beams and the two inners are engaged by another fog light switch.

I agree with noah internal does make it slightly more secure as for the spots think its purly looks IMO if your having spots they have to be big and in your face & on a seperate bracket attached to the grille, thats just my opinion though :P

Thanks for all the help guys, I'm definitely going to go for the internal bonnet release and jb93 you're right, the 2 largish spots look pretty damn smart. Still split between the straight and wavy grille though decisions decisions :D
