The shell is a Mk1 hence and I am In the midst of restoring it so it matches a MK1 cooper specification for the interior and exterior accessories/fittings. Refitted the rear MK1 lamps. Recently cleaned the floor dip switch and there was a stamping indicating year 1966. I purchased the car in 2010 and I have since done the welding required and primed the car. the rust infestation was minimal considering the age of the car, but I had to change the front floorboard, side under pillars-below the doors. Also recently dropped in a rover mini 1.3 spi, F77 engine but coverted the wiring so now it runs on HS2 twin carburetors. the A plus engine is more reliable and breathes better i reckon.
I have kept the original engine which was fitted with the car when I bought it. Over the weekend I decided to clean and curious what engine it actually was so I opened the rocker cover and found a stamping indicating 12G202 and the another stamping on the engine block indicating numbers 12A497. Has anyone come across these numbers, just wondering what is the actual cc of this engine? Its not a 998 cooper engine as per the chasis/engine numbers thats for sure!! Anyone knows what this engine capacity could be?
The size of the files taken from phone seems to large to be uploaded. These is the link to my photos of my mini....Hope someone could help me in identifying the engine. Thanks
