Stumbled across this idea a while back, while looking for Japanese mini styling.

I recently fitted a cheap universal LED third brake lamp across the top of the rear screen. it wasnt very easy on the eye.

SO the thought of doing the Japanese style lamps has been bouncing around my head, (i dont get out much, but the mini is also stuck in a state of hibernation in the garage, so lots of time to tinker around it.) A member on here has made a very smart housing for a LED brake light. but my fabrication skills = zero; so had to look at an alternative.

I also remember seeing some cooper S race cars with two brake lights at each corner of rear screen. so I thought i would combine the two

Some inspiration from Japan....

....
Remeber my fabrication skill level from above...So i ordered some lamp brackets from a neat ebay shop and (after many hours ebaying) some American truck lamps from the USA.

Still unsure how i will mount them! 1 in the middle or 1 in each corner. I need to sort out my parcel shelf speakers first. They are good speakers, but too modern looking.

I am leaning towards 2.

Will need to see how bad the red glare will be.

Maybe a shroud? (legal requirement?)

Can't be any worse than the universal one I had mounted at the top of the screen, it rained red light down.

I think I can mount them almost right against the screen to illuminate any light spill.

I'd live with glare if it looks that good.

But I just remember reading somewhere that it is legal requirement to have a shroud... not sure, and might not apply to where you live, but maybe worth inquiring as it's easily noticeable.

They're a lot bigger than I expected them to be!

At that size, I think it would be awesome to mount one like the Cooper 'S' 's had as a reverse light, or whatever they're used for, mounted on the rear boot lid?

Obviously only an idea, go for whatever YOU think looks best :proud: As always, the mini's looking nice :D

Simon.

EDIT: Just seen you've already got a reverse lamp mounted :shy:

I am a massive Jap gay, so I think anything Jap inspired looks awesome :D

EDIT EDIT: If you can, get the car out into natural daylight and have a look, it'll give you a better idea :) I'd like to see some pictures in daylight too! :P
