There are a few threads about it already... Apparently some Metros had a cable clutch....

Some metro's did have cable clutch actuation.

Not sure why you would want to go to all the trouble really though ?

If it's because your hydraulic clutch is giving you issues then you are wasting your time as the same faults (well similar) will still apply.

There was someone producing a mechanical clutch conversion. I can't remember who it was though :(

In my experience hydraulic clutches give some warning before total operation failure. You can 'pump them back'.
Cable clutches just snap instantly at the top of a sliproad and leave you totally scuppered.

I emailed him a year or two about it and he said he doesn't carry stock of them anymore. Sold the all to 'owensfabrication'.

He might be making them again though as they are on the website still.

Didn't that kit involve cutting a hole in the bulkhead & solid mounting the engine?

What might the advantage of a cable operated clutch be?

I don't have problems with hydraulic clutch mainly because my mini is automatic.

Just thought it might be a simpler option if I ever want to fit a manual engine/box.

I appreciate the point about it snapping at the slip road leaving you stranded but every car I've ever owned apart from my manual mini had a cable clutch. Any one of those could snap at any time. I reckon the concept has been proven reasonably sound by now. (hope that doesn't bite me on the bum now)

Whatever the car came with is probably best. After-market modifications are not likely to have had the same amount of design and testing done on them.
Hydraulic systems are a very good way of obtaining powerful mechanical movement.
