Went to put on my heater and it blows out hot but appears to be blowing out dusty smoke everywhere, its not a burning smoke or carbon monoxide smoke, just as described dusty smoke but there is loads of it!

If i leave the heater off, condensation smoke comes out of the heater. ( say it was set to screen ) condensation vapour would come out of the screen vents and steam up the window and this is when the heater is turned off.

Is this something i should run whilst not in the car and let it blow it all out or does it mean a new heater matrix?

cheers! =]

Sounds like your discribing steam not smoke, in which case it sounds like your heater matrix is leaking. You need a new one ultimately, but in the mean time you could pour some rad weld in.

As above, it's best just to get a new heater matrix

Remember to bleed the system after fitting...

If there's lots you'd expect the radiator level to drop & you'll only get steam if it's had time to warm up enough.

I'll order a new heater matrix then! The water level seems fine, it must been just a tiny leak. Worth replacing now before it gets any worse. Because my mini is a 91' does it have the offset pipe matrix like the one below?
