The red mini is basically complete (will try and sort out pics soon, watch this space!) but i want to put a different engine into it, as the engine in it at the moment is knackered shall we say!! im not worried about top end but i want it to be able to accelerate out of bends well etc. just something that i can take on a nice track day and have a little bit of fun without killing myself. ive bought an avonbar stg 3 head for 1275, with 35.7mm inlet and 29.5mm exhaust valves. i jus dont know weather to just use a standard 1275 with different cam, the head & twin su's(gottta be twin su's, for the retro 70's look!), or if it needs boring out etc. also what final drive ratio and diff to use? when i drive along motorways, i tend to sit on the inside lane at about 60, so i dont want it screaming then.
i know it seems like alot to ask but if anyone can help me please do, im trying to collect these parts as a i go along so i can build the engine towards the end of this year.
thanks alot, alex

3.44 Final drive, and unless the 1275 needs a rebore because of wear, leave asis, maybe an upgrade in cam, sw5 286 etc.. and personally, I'd stick with an HIF44 rather than the twins.

ok wicked thanks, but why not twins? i only want them because its meant to look like a mk 3 cooper s, so i wanted the block painted green with twin carbs, if i have them set up right will they work as well as a hif?

I'd say the carb choice is mainly down to personally choice. The twins will be a bit more responsive but you'll get better mpg will the HIF and the HIF is technically the better carb with the integrated float bowl. Also the twins will be harder to tune yourself if you plan to 'tinker' with the engine.

i wont be tinkering, i want it set up professionally on a rolling road and then thats it! i also dont mind it being abit juicy as its only for nice summer days, buzzin through country lanes etc! what sort of output should all of this work give me then?
