Hi. Previously had this in the 'swapshop' section, but I didn't know how to move it over here, so here goes. I have a 1978 MGB GT for sale. It has been converted to chrome bumpers, to look like the more desirable pre-1974 car. Its also rolling on grey mini-lite alloys. Apart from those things and a stainless steel carb heat shield it is factory spec.
  • 116,000 miles. Engine reconditioned and converted to unleaded. Previous owner told me this was done 14,000 miles ago, but that was before he purchased the car, and all history before him has been unfortunately lost (went into storage i think, from nineties till mid noughties). However upon inspection it is plain to see the engine has had some work done.
  • The body is in decent condition, some minor, non-structural rust,[see pictures] and paint has the odd chip, scratch, fade etc. I am pretty sure it is the factory coat.
  • MOT 10/13, Tax 04/13
  • Engine pulls well, returning decent fuel economy. O/D engages in seconds.
  • Interior is largely good, the front seats need new foams and gear stick gaiter needs replacing (ill include with sale) but other than that its good. All gauges working, but tachometer is a bit vague last couple of weeks, probably loose connection or dodgy contact.
  • Recent parts fitted: Fuel tank, fuel pump, alternator, dash and headlight wiring harnesses, rear brake shoes, carb heat shield aswell as general service items.
  • This is an overdrive on 3 + 4 model, also equipped with full length cloth sunroof and these later cars also had factory fitted electric fans which is a bonus.
  • Other than that, the only problems i havent got round to yet are that the passenger door lock isnt working from the outside, and there is a squeak from one of the rear wheels (both of these appeared very recently which is why i havent solved them myself)
Car can be viewed in Englefield Green (nr. Egham) Surrey, asking £2150 - which i think is a pretty fair price for a (admittedly non original) chome bumper mgb.
