Another Chelmsford Motor Club event at Woodbridge (Suffolk).

http://chelmsfordmc.co.uk/node/3575

Targa rallies come to replace the popular gymkhanas in 2013. I competed on my first one in November last year and it's great fun, with the new rules skills tests are not needed and the way CMC think of them is like a mini-stage rally without the need of all the safety gear.

The number of entries show the popularity of this kind of events, so far there are two Minis on the entry list... one of them mine!!

My 'new' 1030cc engine is due to be in the car by next week so this should be my first proper test of it!!

Originally taking place at RAF Honington, sudden operational reasons (are we at war again?) means the rally has moved to Woodbridge, near Ipswich.

I put an entry in with my brother, it will be a double drive. That means both of us drive and navigate all the tests. The last Targa I did was a total of around 35 minutes of competitive drive, this time it'll be x2 ... am I asking too much from the car? Posted Image

75 entries (40 of them confirmed), including 2 confirmed Minis and possibly one more, must be a new record, and it's the maximum number they will accept. Regs and Entry form can be found at www.chelmsfordmc.co.uk

As ever, motorsport events will not happen without marshals. So if you want to know what is all about, maybe thinking on competing on future ones or just fancy a different and exciting day out, please come out to marshal. It'll be really appreciated.

Debs, who is the Event Chief Marshal, has sent this email out to CMC members so that we could pass it on.
Thanks for reading.

Marshals Required Woodbridge Targa Rally 10/03/2013

March is rapidly approaching and marshals are still required to help with the running of the Woodbridge Targa Rally. The event is
a single venue Targa rally being held on the airfield at Woodbridge just north of Ipswich

As always the success of the event is totally dependent on the marshalling so it goes without saying that it is very much valued by the competitors and organising team alike when people come along and help support the event.

If you can come along and help that would be really appreciated. Lunch also included!

Please register on website www.chelmsfordmc.co.uk or [email protected]

Thanks to those who have already registered.

Pictures from this truly awesome event here:

I finished 47th overall, out of 71 starters is not too bad and I even had a 7th fastest time (still can't believe it)! new engine went just in the previous Friday so I was running it in... :shifty:

full results here: http://chelmsfordmc....ly/Woodbridge13

and for all those Falken haters I can say that they are really good tyres in very slippy conditions!

next event for me is the Derek Stone Memorial 12-car rally on Friday 22nd, I'm currently 5th on the CMC Winter Series driver's championship and my navigator is leading his class... next Targa rally in May at Debden.

we were told the water was quite deep and to take it easy, there was a manned PC after the splash anyway...

I'm awaiting to receive all the photos on a cd and I'll post them here too, there was another splash which was much faster! :highfive:

Well done Luis.
I always like rallying at Woodbridge.
I usually come and marshal there, but couldn't make this one.
