Yup, I did notice lots of pidgeons fly past...........
Im going to have another play tonight, but with some thicker metal, hopefully 1.5mm, to get the feel. Then maby in a few weeks/months/years I will try with the 0.6mm again!
Does anyone know what the thickness of the front floor pan is on a mini?
My first welds....

Original is not very thick at all, especially if its leyland.
Looks to me like your welding at too higher amps for the steel you were using. Also looks as if their isn't enough "side to side" movement. Its a skill to get a steady hand that can sway side to side, at a good speed as to not burn through, yet penetrate and be strong.
I've only been Mig welding a few months but I've had some good practice and I seem pretty good at it now. So keep practicing and you'll save alot of money!
