I bought one of these at Bingley the other week and I came to fit it today to my 1984 Sprite with a 998 engine. Only problem is the bracket catches the edge of the clutch/gearbox housing meaning the bolt holes don't align. Is this normal with these sorts of kits? It's only just catching and taking a couple of mm off the bracket with the angle grinder will get it to fit.

Just wondering, if it is as I was lead to understand when buying it. This is a rear facing one that bolts to the subframe behind the clutch housing rather than replace the forward facing one already on the car? Also can I leave the forward facing one on the car too?

Just not convinced by the way it seems to fit it is suitable for my car and don't want to take a grinder to it incase I end up having to sell it. lol

This is what I have now... (bolts already removed)

Would be grateful for any help. Cheers

So this is a rear mounted support rather than a front replacement? These bolt into the subframe then as you say either across to the underneath of the clutch, or onto the speedo housing.

Any particular reason for purchasing one of these over servicing the existing steadies?

Looks like the correct parts - for front mounting stabilizer. Here's some photos of my bracket fitted and the front mount stabilizer bar (non-adjustable) held up against it...

After replacing all the bushes in the existing 3 steadies I have fitted I still have some engine movement when pressing the accelerator/changing gear, so I'm looking to get a couple of extra steadies. The reason I ended up getting that one was a combination of me knowing what I was after but not really knowing what it looked like and the guy selling it basically agreeing with whatever I asked regarding fitting it. So looks like I have ended up with a direct replacement for the existing steady >_< although it is adjustable

Is there any advantage to changing them over or shall I just leave the existing steady? The bushes are fairly new (under 6 months/1k miles old).

What I was actually after was one of these http://www.minispare...assic/MSSK.aspx

Also one for the LH side, but I didn't see one of those anyway.

Thats helped clear it up, I've certainly not got the part I was after then >_< Trip to Minispares for me next weekend then to get the correct bit's I need (any excuse to go ;D )

Just to add, I didn't buy the steady from Minispares. Couldn't even say where just from a random stall at Bingley.
