Sorry guys I'm sure that this has been asked many times before but new to the site today and need HELP!!!

Having a problem with water getting into the passenger side footwell and I mean loads of it, thought I had sorted over the christmas holiday period with changing of rear passenger window seals and having the door heads cranked over to ensure they were sealing against rubbers, this does not seem to of worked and cannot see any other obviuos way it is getting??

Please help me as it's driving me mad obviously get loads of condensation all the while, it's a 1990, 1275, cooper.

Cheers :o)

Is the water getting in when you're driving or when it's sat. If it's when you're driving then you may have a rusty flitch panel where the water is getting splashed up and coming in. If it happens while it's sat then get somebody to sit inside the car and spray water over it, to see if it's coming in.

I have the same issue when its still, took the front carpets out to see where its coming from and its stopped! sat in the car while someone sprayed the hose all over the car but nothing!

it surely cant be condensation because I was removing about 2 litres of water a time

Have to checked the water level in the rad to make sure your heater matrix isn't leaking?

Hows you Scuttle panel? Mine was rotten and water was getting in through there, admittingly no where near as much as that!

And lastly, I believe someone on here had it where the water was running down the inside of the door, and into the car through the drain hole in the bottom of the door where the door step had either rusted or gotten blocked?

Other than that have you thought about providing wellies to all of your passengers? :gimme:

Sounds to me if the car is stationary then the windscreen seal might be the cause here. The best thing here is to sit in the car and get somebody to thoroughly spray the windscreen area with a hose. Also what stitch-86 has said with regards to the door drains is worth checking.

Look at the door check strap seals as well. Is there any signs of rust in the car ie along the bulkhead and down the flitches. If a normal hose is not showing anything then try a pressure washer but be a careful with it.

Have you checked that the door is sitting straight and that it's sealing correctly on the door seal. I've spent all morning taking my door off and realigning it. Have you checked the window seal as water was coming down the back of my door cards

I had the same...took my 'man' ages to find it. The water was coming in through the rear wheel arch and tracking down into the rear pocket under the plastic liner...that acted like a sump and the water collected and then tracked down the channels in the floor pan..under the centre section and collected in the footwell...like a lake.

Check under the rear arches and under the wheel for any holes...erm..if you have them...mine is a 97' mpi ...
