i dont think that any saloon cars came with rear wiper's?? my jetta didnt that was a bugger, the mini dont, my m8s saloon nova dont. i think your best bet is to get some stuff called 'rain-x' it works like a teflon coat on the window, the water just rolls off the window then.

if you do get thinking and manage to rig one up, you couldnet tell us how its done because i think it is possible!

Its been done on minis before, there was one in a mini mag last year I think.

But I think these are all self fitted.

There is no 'latest RSP' Mini, there hasn't been one since the batch of RSP Coopers which was around 1990.

Rear Wash Wipe was standard equipment on the Mini ERA Turbo. This means there is a rear wash wipe switch available that matches the other switches if you want to fit one. I've got one as I've been intedning to do this for ages.

Quite a lot of places offered kits to do this in the past including John Cooper Garages. The hardest part is finding a wiper arm short enough. One from a Westfield is about right. A company called MiniMod in Yorkshire is the only place I know of that still offers a kit at a reasonable price but they insist on fitting it themselves. They may also have gone bust as they seem to have stopped advertising.

Saloons don't generally have rear wash wipe for two reasons. Firstly the bootlid means it's not easy to mount the motor anywhere and it would hit the wiper as you lift the lid up. Secondly the aerodynamics of having a boot behind the car means there is less of a depression following the rear window around so less junk gets stuck to it.

Yea, you can get a DIY kit, but it don't think its manufactured anymore, no doubt Dan is about to enlighten us all....

There was a rear wiper kit on ebay awile back. I was considering on bidding on it but it got a little too expensive for what it was worth.

Seems to me like the Police Officer in question has a poor grasp of motoring law but then no-one is a perfect expert in what they do, we all make mistakes. I would think that most people with any observational skills and common sense have noticed that generally, saloon cars don't have rear wipers, (which if you are used to having them is a right pain!)
