Hi all,

I am near completion of build my 1275cc metro turbo engine and have a quick question about my spark plugs.

I am using Bosch Super W7DC plugs, but I am finding it difficult to find the gap these should be set at, as in the Haynes Manual it states about NGK ones, done a search on the web, but cannot find anything.

I was told by my neighbour to set them at 0.9mm, but I think this is too small.

Can anyone shed some light on this please.

Thanks

Bobby

Thanks a lot for that info, that is a big help, I though 0.9mm was too small ;D

0.9 is too big, it should be 0.8 with NGK RN9YCC or 0.6mm with NGK RN9YC plugs, you just need to find out what yours are equivalent to.

Unless you have an ignition system that puts out a lot more power and voltage, some coils per plug can do this, however I suspect you are using fairly standard parts..

And for Dave.....
0.9mm = 0.032"
0.6mm = 0.024"

its to do with the boost.. the higher the boost the more likely that you will need a smaller gap.

Thanks a lot for this, yes all parts are standard at the moment, so I will check my plugs and set in accordance, thanks a lot again.

Talking of boost, you may find with a high boost that you need to upgrade the ignition system as high boost pressures can affect the spark to the point where the boost pressure causes a weak spark. and misfire.

Is it still turbocharged ? some people seem to think that the turbo engine is a performance engine without the turbo ! It isn't, ok it should have parts that are more reliable than the majority of A series but the cam is a std 1275 camshaft from any other std 1275 Metro.

Try this link for comparison....
