I have a ballast resistor in my ignition circuit, but on the bottom of the coil it says 12V. I'm not sure if the previous owner accidently fitted a 12V coil. Can someone with a ballast resisted ingition circuit please have a look on the bottom of the coil to see if it is 12V. Thank you

it should say 8v on a coil for balisted ign.

Mine is ballasted coil, but is marked 12v near the terminals however the measured resistances between terminals are correct, (-'ve to +'ve 1.9 Ohms and centre plug to -'ve 5.9 Ohms) I have wire brushed my coil and that is the only marks I can see on it to be honest, but it runs on my ballasted system.

Ok, thank you all. On the bottom of the coil it is stamped 12V, there is no sticker or other markings, I wonder what it says on yours?

I've just thought about it and realised that there can't possibly be current through -'ve to centre

around 3 ohms is the reading between the + and - terminals on a standard 12v non ballasted coil, and 1.5 ohms on the same terminals of a ballasted coil if that helps

To add to the above, make those resistance measurements with the low-tension wires removed (after you have marked them for position of course).
