well i drilled some holes in my mpi airbox, fitted body repair mesh on the inside and glued it with black silicone (done this with my old supermoto) and cleaned my K&N filter...took it for a run and dunno if its just the clean filter, but it seems to pickup quicker...but at least this took my mind off buying stuff off minispares today ;D

Gonna get a dremill and take some bits off the inside when i can borrow one .

I've heard the standard box can be as good as an induction kit with some mods like this!

You'll have to keep us posted on how good/bad it is!

The standard box is considerably better than most induction kits straight from the factory.

My idea was, more airflow,, the bigger the the bang ;D
Now i know this works on my ol KTM (motobike) as i re jetted it after doing simler mod and had her on a dyno..increased power.

but not to sure how it'll work in a mpi, but as i said, i warmed her up and took her for a run, and found it picks up quicker.

I want to remove the semi circular bit inside the box where the funnel goes into, next also trim down the circle bit inbetween (not the bits where the bolts go thro) but where the bolts sits

Oh Wow.... Isopon Alley Mesh!!!.......I didn't realise you could still buy that stuff!! :D

Back in the eighties there were whole cars held together with that stuff! You used to shove sheets of it behind massive rust craters and then cover the whole lot over with filler. Back in the day that was considered to be doing it properly, bodging it involved using newspaper instead!!

Is there any need for the mesh at all? At this point it is pre-filter, and the original mouth to the airbox is much larger to get foreign bodies in compared to any of those new holes.

It might help keep larger items of debris out of the filter though, leaves and dead insects etc!!

Wouldn't the holes in the bottom of the air box suck in a lot of hot air that gets radiated from the exhaust manifold? Although the holes would help with breathing capabilities wouldn't it be better to have a flared ram pipe on the end of the existing air filter inlet pipe? Because that way it would suck in more cold air and produce more of a difference.

Doubt it, because when im driving along air pushes the hot air to the rear, also the manifold is at the rear of the engine, and the holes are at the front.

I'll look into a funnel for the air intake, but lets face facts, its a standard mpi engine ;D
