
Bonnet Pins

I am thinking of putting a set of bonnet pins on my mk3 mini, what way will I go by it. (eg, what size of plates)

Rear ones go to the corners at a 45° angle like this:

You need to fit a plate of 2mm thick alluminum on the inside or the fixings:

Roughly this is 9 cm at the scuttle side and 12 cm at the wing.
You can get a 14cm x 14cm square plate and cut it half at the diagonal, then pop-rivet it to the scuttle and the inner wing.

Iv just fitted to mine I done mine wrong in a way I rushed into it and started drilling I should of placed the top part round the other way but oh we'll just means I have bigger plates

And the plate was just a thick bit of alloy in a shape of a triangle just make you measure lots of times or will look crap if out of place

What about the front? what size of plates etc.

Never bothered with pins for the front as you can fit rubber catches, spring type or even leather straps
Rubber hooks:

Just a word of warning, check them regularly for cracking and once they're craked replace them, the rubbers will usually need replacement after about 2 years, but you can get them for a couple of quids
