I know I should have not taken the car out but its meant to be driven not ogled at. So floored it hit some black ice it threw the back around then I hit a dry patch and the car launch control all by itself in to a tree (great fun). Surprisingly not much damage 2 new arches, outer split rims, bumper, wing, a panel and a bit of paint and it will be ready for the drier weather HAHA.

So I hope you lot have learnt from my stupidity and yes its safe to take the car out in the ice otherwise I would not be entering these details sorry about the paint Ed

Not good man! Hope the damage is not too bad. If none of the subframes have been bent and you have got away with just the arches and an outer wheels edge then you have done well. Was hoping to see this car at a Basingstoke Mini Club meet. I know we had a bit of a problem with our pub closing down and a meet being canceled last minute but I hope its not put you off. Good luck fixing it and hope to see you and the car soon!

The wheel is made of quite thin ally and took a heavy impact and it colapsed if it was a steel wheel i am sure their would have been some damage to the frame but suprisingly on inspection not much damage I have changed the steering rack and bearing hub but fingers crossed everything else mechanically looks fine.

aw ffs joss, hope you are ok mate "clean underpants i would think" if you are ordering wheel arches, you would be better to order the wider rear arches? not sure if they would be too big?

As long as you are ok, the car will fix.

The back of that mini steps out without too much trouble in the dry. i think i only had it out in the rain the once when i had my first experience of the arse stepping oot.

Hi Ed

Yes it is a bit twitchy up the rear end in as far as the arches are concerned the larger type are to big they look like I am still wearing flared trousers. Because of their is minimal vertical movement this set up works fine I went to a rubber seal supplier and they sold me a 20mm thick strip to bring the arch out.

Joss man, wow.........glad you're OK.

I agree that the cars should be driven at every given chance but after my few experiences in wet and mildly moist conditions I now prefer driving it in the dry.

We look forward to seeing it back on the road yet again.....good luck with the rebuild.
