the tyre on the passenger side is wearing rapidly on the outside edge which leads to tracking??
went to get tracking done as it pulls badly to the left and they could not do it as track rods too stiff??
so would replacing track rod ends enable me to do the tracking and i had someone do some welding and had him replace the rack too with a new one which sat in a mates garage for a while....
just after advice on what to do, if it is track rod ends is it just a matter of unbolting from steering arm and unscrewing from rack, then refit in reverse keeping turns equal then get it tracked?
Thanks, Craig

Sounds like the track rod ends are maybe seized on. Just replaced mine and took a bit of time to get off. Just a matter of unbolting them. Undo the lock nut (which is probably what it seized - mine were) then count the number of turns to remove the trackrod end or mark where they are on the thead so you can get them back something like they were when you removed. Although this is not so important if you are getting the tracking done straight after.

Thats it. You'll need a ball joint splitter to split the joint where it fits to the hub. Don't split the joint till you've cracked the locknut though The lock nut just locks the track rod in place, just screws against the end of it. Turn clockwise to loosen it.
