I have a smiths rev counter RVC type, from and MG i think. Fitted it this morning but it only goes round to 3000 rpm. is there anything i can do to fix this or is it for the scrap pile. Also does anyone know where i can get a free standing pod for these as i have a center clock cluster and need a way to mount it tastefully.

The numbers on the gauge are RVC 2414/oif which i believe to be the 4 cylinder model. it works fine on tick over and up to 3000. can these be repaired or serviced?

There 5inch and as far as I know there are no off the shelf pods, all the aftermarket ones are for the smiths 80mm ones.

Even though it says RVC on your smiths what you have to remember is these are now approx 40yrs old. I was speaking last week to speedy cables and this topic came up in conversation and the issue is that even though RVC should work with Points and Electronic Ignition, the circuit boards are now really streatched as all resistors and components age and this is becoming more apparent with the RVC type of Smiths Rev Counters. One of the first signs of ageing of the components is that the needle becomes bouncy, speedy cables offer a new circuit and overhaul for the problem at £75 + P/P
