Posting this in motorsports because i'm interested to know what carbs people run in competition cars when they have a centre speedo.

I'm mailny interested in hill climbs where a weber DCOE45 (and long manifold) seems to offer the most grunt but ive seen quite a few competitive cars with a centre speedo.

So curious to know what carbs people use without fitting a large airbox in the bulkhead?

Twin H4's plus ram pipes, might go up to Twin HS6's when I get a set

Without mods to the bulkhead your limited to all the SU combinations, twin HS4s or a Single Hif44, Weber wise your limited to a short manifold for the DCOE range as none of the 4/5/6inch ones fit without bulkhead mods and thats pretty much ruled out a centre speedo unless its spaced away from its original mounting position, which looks odd to me, or the new short Maniflow one which they say fits without mods and allows the speedo to stay put. Weber do a 28/36 and a few other downdraft carbs but they are not popular for the hillclimb boys.

I just bought twin hs6's at a classic car meeting, I'm sure they fit without mods to the bulkhead and they are about the same size as a Weber DCOE 45.

HS6's are good on high-revving engines. I use a pair on a 1330 rally 'S' a ew years ago and they worked well, but no better than H4's really I guess.
If anyone is interestred I have a pair of HS6's, but one needs an angle adaptor to get thefloat chamber to the right angle. PM me if interested.
