I have an Equinox SPI,

Basically the engine cuts out on me and loses power occationally.. it started about 2 weeks ago, but now seems to happen more often and getting worse. I can be going along doing 40mph, everything sounds fine, then out of nowhere the engine starts losing power and then cuts out, no matter how much I put my foot down on the accelerator!

Getting it back started after this happens can take anything between 1-5mins.. Have to keep turning the ignition and hold the accelerator down full... after quite a few ticks it will start to show signs of life.. abiet sound rediclously rough... and once i've hold high revs for a few seconds I can normally put it into 1st and pull away and after a min or so it'll sound fine again.

Any ideas what I can check etc?!

Thanks

Adam

may be worth checking, all the crap could be building up in the filter due to the constant flow then cutting the flow down, just a thought, i dont know where the regulator is on injection mini's so thats a possibility

Hey, I had almost the exact same thing.

I changed all the spark plugs, points, condencer.

Turned out the needed for the fuel valve in the carb was clogged with rubbish. I'd sort of be okay then it would just burble and die on me while driving. Leave it for a bit, and would run again (maybe the rubbish sloshed back, no idea) and this is with a fuel filter in the boot. So change the filter and check the carb needled valve for rubbish.

Just came across this - did you ever get this sorted out ? Sorry, I hadn't noticed it when you posted it.
