I have galvanised garage doors which are plain metal at the moment.

I'd like to paint them white (looooong story) but I hear that Hammerite/Smoothrite is poor compared to before due the ingredients changing

see http://www.mmoc.org....php?f=5&t=38071 (Morris Minor forums discovering this themselves)

Any other recommendations ? They are simply to paint the doors white, not for rust inhibition as the doors are galvanised as mentioned.

Hammerite and most other black metal paints seam to be far too watered down and thus needing more coats. Although you could try lidls on the 14th, as the metal paints from both lidl and aldi seam pretty good for the price.
