Alright guys, I love all the old retro consoles and games and I'm thinking of re-buying an N64!
I have my old PS1 and Sega Megadrive already ha ha, love them!
Where would you's recommend buying a cheap N64, for a reasonable price, I've tried Ebay but they are so overpriced!
What consoles did you's used to love as well? And which game kept you the most occupied all them years ago??

Carboots are usually pretty good for consoles and games.
I sold my brothers megadrive games on eBay (he doesn't know yet) people are paying silly money for them

Ahh that's actually not a bad idea, I'll have a root next time one pops up by mine!
That is so harsh, he will be absolutely fuming, which classics did you sell??

Don't do it.

I bought a N64 about 3/4 years ago as a retro thing. I bought all the best games for it, including Perfect Dark with ROM extension pack. It was a coloured cyan perspex style special edition.

All ended up doing was playing on my PC until 4am, turning round and then started playing on my N64 !

However, the composite signal made the picture terrible compared to my PC trained eyes.

Anyway, I modded my Spectrum 48K the other day as per this thread

I wanted an N64 initially for Zelda, pokemon battle, goldeneye etc.. But Instead I just opted for a emulator for the computer haha, not the same though!

Go get a N64 they are great fun!

Drunken Mario cart is hilarious, Goldeneye + Zelda are classics which have been a good investment for those who kept the boxes + manuals :proud:

If you do decide to get one, check the condition of the Controller joystick as well used examples do not function responsively, I have 4 but only 1 is worth playing with!

Well I ended up collecting full size arcade machines in the end. They were a pain as some of the integrated circuits were older than my friends !
Also, the TV tubes needed warming up with a fan heater otherwise they would blow up. The hydraulic Afterburner sit down kept jamming too.
Eventually moved onto a classic Daimler in the garage and now back to Minis after 2 decades.
So have gone full circle !

No way I have always wanted a full size pacman machine or something along those lines, but I do not think the parents would be impressed if I turned up with one ha ha! Sticking to an emulator just isn't the same :(

I never had TMNT on the N64 but did have it on the Super Nintendo(Which I bought at a car bootsale when I was about 10 for £1.50, with 2 games, 2 pads and all the wires, possibly the best purchase ever, shame the mother binned it when we were having a clear out :( )

They weren't worth the hassle in the long run,; it put me off MAMEing and emulators for life. But Mini's can make you feel the same way sometimes. So now I collect arcade marquees (and waste money on Minis) , much easier !

Incidentally the joysticks on the n64 controllers are easily fixed, you pull the controller apart 3 screws to take out the joystick unit, then a couple of clips to open the unit, clean out the fluff then re assemble, I have done that to my controllers and work flawlessly now
