Lack of a thermostat won't cause overflow. not recommended to run without thermostats though, especially in winter. if it only a small amount , the internals adjust and then stay in balance (ie water drip stops)
Easiesy thing is to get an overflow tank, when hot overflows into tank, when cooling it gets sucked back into radiator. don't overfill the overflow tank , allow room for the expansion

Its not recomended to run without a thermostat at ANY time of the year..... no 4 cylinder will NOT be cooled correctly, I suspect that your gauge is either reading a little below normal or very close to normal..... no 1 cylinder is being cooled ok, no is running hotter then no3 is hotter still and on to no4 which is probably in the red.

You need to fix the issue, the thing to look for is the way the fan has been fitted it can be fitted the wrong way around, look at the shape of the aerofoil ! he direction below.

Engine ( radiator

( = the end shape of the fan blades.

You need to check that your rads in good condition and the core is not choked with dust and much, also the fan belt is adjusted correctly with those sort of outside temperatures every thing on the cooling system needs to be in good condition, there is a sleeve available you can fit if you need to run without a thermostat (Not Recommended) to ensure good water circulation from the mini suppliers.

Hi I discovered that I had put the wrong type of radiator cap. The seal/spring assembly wasn't long enough. All good now.
