I got my Mini back on the road last week and couldn't be happier! There are still a few things I need to finish up on it, but otherwise it's good to go.

When I first bought the Mini, I was planning on restoring it to original condition as a 1977 1100 Special. But a few months ago I discovered that it has a 998 engine, not the 1098.

So, without the 1098, do I still restore it as original? Other than the enlongated side repeaters, nothing on the car indicates that it is a 1100 Special. I have a black vinyl roof to install, but I'm having second thoughts after reading about the potential moisture trap it could cause. Plus, a white painted roof would look a lot nicer... Below are some photos of how it looks now.

And on a side note, any reason why I wouldn't want to install a "Stage 1 Kit"?

Thanks!

It looks so clean, you should add the 1100 parts and make it original/replica.

What about export models?

http://www.austinmin...100special.html

And without a 1100 engine, is it still a 1100 Special? Maybe my boot badge should read "Mini Special" instead of "Mini 1100"?

And speaking of badges, I don't really like the Leyland symbol. The later winged Mini badge looks nicer in my opinion...
