Daft question. Are the only differences between earlier and later subframes the exhaust hangers? If so will I be able to fit a 1991 one onto my 82 mini.

Yep, just the hangers. so will fit.

Yep, addition on hangars. They also got ''access'' holes between the heelboard to get behind the captive nuts
