Is the glass flat or convex? Flat glass is designed for the wing as you need to look at it from further away to be able to see the full field of view, convex glass allows the mirror to be brought closer and door mounted but distorts reality (hence 'objects in mirror are closer than they appear').

got mirrors from huddersfield spares would have thought that being a mini specialist they might have sold me the right ones to fit guess i should have asked firstDid you buy proper Mini door bullet mirrors or generic bullet wing mirrors, there's a big difference in the mounting. There is a mounting plinth available which can move generic mirrors into a better position on the door but if you have already re-drilled the door to take the mirrors it may be hard to fit as it uses the original Rover mountings.
