Get it directly from SU. They have a website which will select the right kit for you.

There should be a little metal tag on your carb, on HS models it will (sorry maybe) fitted on top of one of the float chamber screws, this number will allow Burlen fuels, or possibly Mini spares to sell you the correct kit of parts for your carburettor.

Once you have the information you could either phone Mini Spares on the number here on the site sponsor advert or Burlen on (0)1722 412 500

No if it isn't visible then you haven't got one, when you do find out what it is you can buy replacement tags.

Hello
There may be a small aluminium triangular shaped tag fixed under a float chamber lid screw. It may be there, or may not be there.
Burlen fuel systems (SU) can then use that info to supply the correct kit.

A more expensive, but in my opinion, a better route might be to send them the carb and they can rebuild it for you. They did a brilliant job with mine. But that's just my approach, as I consider the carb, ie the lungs of your engine to be vitally important to get everything perfect.

If you go the kit route, and you don't have the number tag on the float chamber, remove the items which you know need replacing and you can send them to burlen and they can send you new items to the same spec. Remember, that needles, suction chamber springs can all can vary from SU carb to SU carb even though they may all be 1.5 inch carbs.

The main issue with doing the rebuild yourself is getting the bushes fitted correctly, Iv'e seen loads of "supposedly" reconditioned SU#s the first check is the butterfly and spindle:-

1) Is the spindle a nice tight fit but smooth to turn ?
2) from fully closed to fully open and open to closed does it stick ?

Because if it does either of the above it will not last too long before you feel the same issues as before.
