You don't have to buy a full set of rods, they are around £12.00 each.

As for tips:

Use double sided tape around the edges instead of glue. Get a big box of bulldog clips or wingback clips from Staples or Smiths and use them to hold the liner in place as you pull it around the opening so you can keep adjusting. Work from the centre of the windscreens and the centre of each body side towards the corners to pull creases out and don't do all of one side at a time but work equally on opposite sides and ends of the car. Start by clipping the front centre, then flip all the rods right-side up and clip the centre back tightly to hold it all together then work your way around. Make a tuck fold where it crosses the A and B pillars instead of just cutting and glueing as it will look better when finished. DON'T start making release cuts until you are sure you need to. Try chasing creases out first. The seams will show you if it's straight across the car, get it straight to begin with by marking the centres on the rear of the cloth with pencil and then line these up to the centres of the car. When you are happy and have trimmed it and got the screens in, leave a fan heater in the car for a few hours to get it nice and warm inside and it will pull tight and loose the surface wrinkles. DO NOT let the heater get covered up or anything and make sure it's all safe when doing this.

Surely the fan heater should be used to soften the material and pulled tight before you put the screens in, i am only saying this as a old school trimmer told us to do this when we use to fit them.

I used a cut up door seal to hold mine in place in the window and door lips.. I used evo-stick glue and a heat gun to gently warm mine while stretching it taut.. I did it in January and it was very cold in the garage, I imagine it's much nicer to do outside in the sunshine. I left the glue to go off overnight before trimming off the excess material and glueing and trimming round the tricky curves..

Maybe so, a good point. As the poster above it's always been summer when I've replaced one and the fabric has been nice and soft already.

I have not put this type of headliner in a Mini but I have in other cars and hard-tops. I have always worked in the direction that Dan mentioned but I have done so in combination with using a "hair dryer" to heat and soften the material as I pulled it tight. I had not thought of using double sided tape but I can see the merits of doing so. Use lots and lots of clips.

I have just come across this thread and am pleased to read it because headlining is my next task.
I am wondering what happens down the A,B,C posts. In one of the boxes that came with my project there were two cards for the C posts but nothing for A and B. Do I just stick headlining material to these or should there be some sort of backing? How far down the B post should it go?

I just cut it straight with a Stanley knife and glued it but I'm not sure what its meant to do wasn't to bad me and my girlfriend did it in a couple of hours! Just waiting to fit the glass now and give it a final stretch hehe!!
