Hey guys got a problem with my 1981 998 city, its a verto clutch system.
the problem im having is that the slave cylinder pushes the plunger out more and the release bearing is in constant contact with the (cup thingy) i can push the plunger in to the slave cylinder more and it stops vibrating. someone told me there should be a spring on it so i got the spring they told me to get and the spring is too strong and just pulls the plunger right out, i now understand that the pre verto clutches have a spring on them not my verto one but its as if it just needs a little spring on it or something just to pull it out a little, i have been told that my clutch is adjustable but i fail to see how as its a newly added 3 peice clutch kit and no matter how close i put the two nuts it still engages, i have no trouble going throught the gears all smooth no juddering or slipping, its just it vibrates and makes a noise like my tappets are incorrectly adjusted which is what i thought it was at first until i opened the bonnet and tracked the noise to the release bearing plunger vibrating.

i have a clip of me demonstrating pushing it in to stop the vibrating:

thx, dean
its my first mini so dummy talk please :D

You have been given completely incorrect information. The Verto clutch does not have a spring on the lever, the only spring is inside the slave cylinder, and intentionally pushes out the piston to take up the free play so that the release bearing is always in light contact. An external spring must not be fitted under any circumstances.

Your clutch release mechanism was working properly before you fitted the spring, and if there is vibration it is most likely due to a failing release bearing.

There is no adjustment in a Verto clutch, it must be set to the correct position. If you've been adjusting it to try to adjust this vibration out you need to get it back to the right place, you are lucky it's new as they can only be set with a new clutch disc.
