Just wondering if my engine will need to come out to fit my hi lift cams?
My car is a;
1993
1275
Rover rio

I've watched rebuilds on youtube & it looks like some are overhead cam and others are centred

Thanks for any answers

The a series will always be a push rod engine unless its got a BMW head on it. With a 1275 you'll need to take the engine out otherwise the followers will fall straight out. Some will say that you need to split the gearbox and crank cases but you can actually just sit the block on its face when putting the cam in.

It could have a JOMO overhead cam cylinder head or a JKD or KAD 16v twin overhead cylinder head in either case including the BMW conversion the engine would not need to be removedto swap camshaft/s

It is generally recognised that to do the job properly you need to strip the engine fully and also replace the followers, the new camshaft and old followers will never last long.

Also to avoid damage to the bearings the camshaft must be lowered without touching the cam lobes against the bearing surface.
