Just out of interest, does anybody have the MED R-S (Road Sport) camshaft in their engine or has any experience with one? Just wondered what they were like in terms of generating power and torque or if anybody has any facts and figures on them, it seems as though nobody on here talks about them, i'm guessing there not very popular! :shades:

can get one from piper for a bit cheaper as it doesnt have MED stamped on it
(Or KEERRCHIIINNGG Lol)

my gf got a piper 266 from moss i think put it in a 1293 and it is very nippy!

think hers was dyno'd at around 70bhp but im sure she'll be along to clear it up ;)

do MED have bad customer service?! i was planning on getting quite a lot of stuff from there as well....

What engine is it for ??

It's for a fast road 1293, i fancy an SW10 cam but if Piper do anything better then i may go for that, whats the BP285 like?

I can only go on my experience. I phoned looking for info to get a spec in my mind. I told him I wasn't buying that day as I needed a rough price to see what I needed to save. He was plain rude and wouldn't discuss anything with me. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and rung again a couple of months later. This time I had a decent budget ready, he was just as rude and just couldn't be bothered. If they are like that before you spend your cash what would they be like if you had a problem after........ I went to swiftuneand they were brilliant for me.

I have a piper 270, great for fast road and doesn't need too many revs to get the best out of it. Give them a ring they are very helpful.

Iv not bought the cam yet but I got told to use it by bill Richards racing they gave me a spec sheet of my engine build and they said should be pushing 100-115 Bhp so sounds a good cam but I don't know if its to wild for a 1293

I would of thought a Kent 266 or 276 is good for 1293

The piper 285 is a old design, bettered by the kent 286. But these are not in the same category as the cam your comparing it to from MED......
The MED cam is a true fast road cam where as the 285/286 are more race cams in comparison.....and need a engine built to suit ie. Well prted head with larger valves and a gearbox, final drive to match the cam......

If you want to compare like with like, with MED's cam. You should be looking at the MG Metro (kent500), kents 266, SW5 and the Piper270.......

righty o, i'll have to have a good look at them all and do a bit of a comparison to see which one i need then....cheers

Best thing ring bill Richards tell him your spec what the car is used for etc and ask what cam should you use and he can tell you
