Ok my bolts don't look like their gonna come out without making a mess and having to replace the mounting hole, nuts on the car, iv seen you can buy a panel to replace this but how do you weld it into the right position? Do u bolt the subframe on to the boot end and then tack in place?

You mean the heel board panel? Yes If you have to replace it you need to offer up the subframe to make sure you get it in the correct place

If it is the heelboard end then you will do something like this although i manufactured this one myself.

and this is where it attaches to the end of the inner sill via the bracket.

I shall be slopping plenty of copper grease on the bolts when I put mine back :)

Its not quite that straight forward. You need to get the right type of end as there are several out there. There is one from Magnum that just has two captive nuts welded to the repair panel. Not good as it does not tie into the inner sill.

I chopped out the end of the outer sill to see what was going on with the inner sill. the heelboard bracket and the internal slinging bracket were both rotten along with the inner sill inside the companion bin.

This allowed me access to the everything for replacement although in the end i removed the quarter panel as well (it was damaged)

If you are lucky and the heelboard bracket is not rusty (highly unlikely) then you can drill out the spot welds in between the mounting bolts and and one above and below the bolt holes.

Worth knowing heelboard panels from Magnum now have metric threaded nuts attached instead of imperial, so in a new subrame mounting kit the bolts wont fit.
