I was looking at the new members content yesterday. Not sure how I landed on that page, but a new member registered every 2 mins or so. Are there really that many people or are they spammers?

Generally they seem to tell you about the stock market in eastern Europe. My advice is ignore them, and report their comments. Don't click on any links.

The China IP address gives a lot of them away, and the content is always links to some dodgy site, just hit the report button and they will be deleted.

We get two or three daily on our club website which our web person wearily deletes. They are always from far-flung lands and their websites never work. If we just left them our site would soon be clogged, but we could boast of the biggest club in the south west with hundreds of registered members!

Its no where near as bad as it used to be.. There is not a lot any forum can do about spammers its just the nature of the beast. We try to stop them as soon as physically possible but there will always be the odd one or two that gets through.
As said as soon as you see one then hit the report button and one of us will deal with it.

Thats the point, they create 'Spam Bots' to do it for them. Probably some keyboard warrior somewhere...
They must get a thrill out of it.

Captcha, or Mini related questions, should keep the spambots at bay. spare a thought for the poor souls in China who earn so little it's viable to have them spamming away purely for the web rankings. Maybe one day the web will be so dominated by spammers spamming one another's site it'll be impossible to find any real content with Google.
