Your going to see a rusty surface inside its cast iron and running just plain water, better to use a inhibiter in the coolant some antifreeze are a all in one, if its flushed out now the water should come clear, dont forget the heater matrix set the heater to hot to open the tap.
+1, when you are happy it is sorted you must put antifreeze to stop corrosion.
